Ricardo Perez

In 1987 Ricardo started building guitars and doing some repairs on various string instruments with the guidance of Antonio Carriedo, with whom he started his first violin in 1990. The same year he moved to Italy, where with the advice of Master teacher Ernesto Vaia, he was able to finish that violin. Since then he has built violins, violas, cellos and basses without interruption.

From 1991 to 1993, he attended a workshop in Cremona taught by Master Luthier Loeiz Honoré while attending the course of the Regione Lombarda to train as bowmaker under the guidance of Master bow makers Giovanni Lucchi,  Emilio Slaviero and Fiorenza Manfredini. In 1993 he enrolled in the Violin Making School of Parma, and continued to deepen his studies with the renowned Master Luthier Renato Scrollavezza until 1995. The instruments that he built from 1990 to 1995, while in Italy, are currently owned and played by musicians from Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan.

In 1995 Ricardo and Anne-Sylvie Raynaud opened the workshop Pérez & Raynaud in Mexico , where they built professional level instruments with high-quality woods, materials and accessories, while also providing repair service, conservation, restoration and maintenance of instruments and bows for music schools, conservatories, orchestras, and professional musicians.

In early 2014 he moved to Seattle and is continuing his work with the Applebaum Violin Shop.
